What is the White House Task Force on New Americans?
The White House Task Force on New Americans is “a federal strategic action plan on immigrant and refugee integration.” Its aim: to enhance opportunities for new Americans and build welcoming communities. They’re also helping strengthen pathways to naturalization, promoting civic engagement and supporting skill development for immigrants.
Their responsibilities are broad; they’re responsible for reviewing policies and programs to make sure that each government agency is responsive to the needs of new Americans.
Wisconsin is actively participating in The New Americans Project. Programs our state has implemented include small business courses designed specifically for immigrants, English immersion programs and an expansion of educational opportunities designed to help new Americans succeed in the Badger State.

In order to become eligible for the many programs that the White House Task Force on New Americans has expanded, immigrants must follow the pathway toward permanent residency.
